Auto Industry

Gloom, doom or boom?

For Ford (NYSE:F) and GM (NYSE:GM) I think you would have to be a fool to be optimistic. But, for mega retailers like CarMax (NYSE:KMX) and AutoNation (NYSE:AN), they have been picking up market share as independent dealers close buy the hundreds. When folks begin buying cars again, they have to, those things do not run forever, both will be getting a far larger piece of the pie.

Perhaps that is why billionaires like Sears Holdings (NASDAQ:SHLD) Eddie Lampert, Microsoft's (NASDAQ: MSFT) Bill Gates and Berkshire Hathaway's (NYSE:BRK.A) are the largest shareholders in the sector?
