Volume-Price: JA Solar, Delta Petro and Leap Wireless (NASDAQ: JASO),(NASDAQ: DPTR),(NASDAQ: LEAP)

Today’s stocks that gained on big volume include JA Solar Holdings Co., Ltd. (ADR) (NASDAQ:JASO), Delta Petroleum Corp. (NASDAQ:DPTR) and Leap Wireless International, Inc. (NASDAQ:LEAP).

JA Solar Holdings Co., Ltd. (ADR) (NASDAQ:JASO) had its second “heck of a day” as volume today tipped the scales at a whopping 39M, which is an impressive 6X average daily volume of 5.5M.  Shares closed the day a massive 8.7% higher to $5.76 a share.  Since the shares have cracked 5 bucks per share, this stock should start getting some real attention.  It is now poised to test the resistance of about $6.25 per share that was set back in June of this year.

Next on the list, Delta Petroleum Corp. (NASDAQ:DPTR), which logged an impressive 25M shares trading hands today and is more than 2X average daily volume of 11.6M, not bad…   The shares seem to be getting picked up off the floor as the stock has been flirting with penny stock levels since November.  The stock seems to remain quite volatile as shares have touched 4 bucks a share twice in the last 9 months, only to return to below $2.  Today’s buying frenzy may be just what the stock doctor ordered from Delta P though.

Leap Wireless International, Inc. (NASDAQ:LEAP) is coming off some rough months as well, but logged a strong 9.5% gain on 7.4M shares trading hands.  This is up sharply from the average daily volume of 4.2M.  Shares closed the day at $16.85 and it seems the strong gain could be related to Bernstein’s initiation of an outperform recommendation on the stock.  The chart for the company is showing some life as it bounced off some lows established in November and may indicative of reversal from its downward spiral.
