Mosaic Profits surge

Mosaic Co. (NYSE:MOS) said late Monday that fiscal second-quarter net income rose to $959.8 million, or $2.15 a share, from $394 million, or 89 cents a share, a year ago. Results for the latest quarter included an inventory valuation write-down of 41 cents a share, and a gain of $1.03 a share for the company's October sale of its interest in Saskferco Products ULC. Revenue increased to $3.01 billion from $2.2 billion last year. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $1.43 a share on revenue of $3 billion.
No matter how bad housing or autos gets, people still will put food on the table and have babies. Until they stop doing wither, Mosaic and rival Potash (NYSE:POT) will have built in demand for its products...
