TI and Apple Beat Expectations While Zions Disappoints

Texas Instruments Incorporated (NYSE:TXN): Q3 EPS of $0.42 beats by $0.03 on revenue of $2.9B, which is down -15% versus Q3 of 2008 of $3.4B. Texas Instruments Incorporated (NYSE:TXN) is projecting Q4 EPS of $0.42-0.50 and will update its fourth-quarter outlook on December 8, 2009. "Our balance sheet is strong and has allowed us to opportunistically make investments in Analog and Embedded Processing throughout this downturn that should provide returns for years to come." Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL): FQ4 EPS of $1.82 beats by $0.40!!  Apple had sales of $9.87B versus $9.2B FQ4 for 2008. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is projecting FQ1 EPS of $1.70-1.87 versus a consensus of $1.91 on sales that range between $11.3 and $11.6B. Apple has sold an astounding 3.05M Macs, 10.2M iPods, and 7.4M iPhones during this quarter to substantiate its surprise. This quarter’s profit was $1.67B. Zions Bancorporation (NASDAQ:ZION): Q3 EPS of -$1.41 misses by $0.17. Revenue of $753M is +29% versus $633M Q3 2008. Net loan charge-offs of $381.3 million in Q3 continue to plague the company as compared to $347.5 million in Q2. Shares had finished the day up 0.88% to finish at $18.33 but quickly gave that back after announcement in after-hours trading to drop 1.15% to $18.12.  [more…]
