Beat Street: JC Penny, Agilent and A&F (NYSE: JCP,NYSE: A,NYSE: ANF)
J.C. Penney Company, Inc. (NYSE:JCP) reported Q3 EPS of $0.30 and beats the Street by $0.18, pretty amazing! They reported revenue of $4.18B which is down -3.2% from Q3 2008, but in-line with expectations. JCP projects Q4 EPS to be in the range of $0.70-0.85 per share versus a consensus $0.82 per share. Penney also expects sales to be down 3-5% and same-store sales down 4-6%. Shares are up a healthy $1.46 pre-market to $30.85 after closing yesterday at $29.39. (more)
Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) also reported this morning with their FQ4 EPS at $0.32 and beat the Street by $0.09 a share, not bad! They posted revenue of $1.17B which is down -21.2% from FQ4 2008 and up from the estimates of $1.11B. Agilent projects FQ1 EPS of $0.28-0.32, which is higher that current consensus of $0.27. They commented, "While it seems clear that we are past the worst of the global downturn, the pace of recovery is expected to be slow and to vary considerably by market and geography." Shares are currently trading at $28.07, which is +$0.64 (2.33%) from yesterday’s close of $27.43 per share. (more)
Abercrombie & Fitch Co. (NYSE:ANF) also had a little surprise of their own when they reported Q3 EPS to be $0.30 and beat the Street by $0.10 a share, bravo! A&F reported a revenue stream of $765M and that is down -14.6% from Q3 2008, but remained in-line with revenue expectations. The same -store sales were down a big -18%. Shares are trading big pre-market at $39.27 a share, which +$2.51 (6.83%) from yesterday’s $36.76 close. (more)
