Beat Street: Applied Mat, Green Mountain and Advanced Auto Parts (NASDAQ: AMAT), (NASDAQ: GMCR), (NYSE: AAP)

Applied Materials, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMAT) reported Fiscal Q4 EPS of $0.13, which beats analysts estimates by $0.10. They did this on revenue of $1.5B which is down -25% for Fiscal Q4 of 2008 and up from the analyst estimates of $1.3B.  Applied Mat expects revenue growth of more than 30% in fiscal 2010. They report "increased net sales and profitability in our semiconductor equipment business, with improved demand and financial performance in all of our segments." Shares closed at $13.35 after hours, which is up $0.10 from the market close and +$0.35 from the previous day’s close. (more)

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. (NASDAQ:GMCR) has been a little gem of a stock that is trying to give Starbucks a run for its money.  They reported FQ4 EPS of $0.34, beating the Street by $0.01. Oddly enough, that surprise was not enough for the after-hours investors as shares plummeted to $68.98, down -6.93 (-9.13%) from the market close of $75.91.  Their revenue was reported at $222M, which up +65% from FQ4 2008 and $5M higher than analysts estimates of $217M.  (more)

Advance Auto Parts, Inc. (NYSE:AAP) posted Q3 EPS at $0.69 and that beat the Street by 3 pennies per share. Their revenue was posted at $1.3B which is up +6% from Q3 2008, and remained in-line with analysts’ expectations. AAP’s Q3 same-store sales also increased +4.7%. Shares were up for the day at market close, ending at $40.28, or +$1.28/share (3.28%)…  That is until the after-hours traders got their hands on the stock and pummeled it down to give back all of the day’s gain, closing after-hours at $38.80 and dropping -$1.48 (-3.67%) from market close.  (more)
