New 52-week High for 3M, EZCORP, and CarMax (MMM, KMX, EZPW)

New highs for shares of 3M Company (NYSE:MMM), CarMax (NYSE:KMX), and pawn king EZCORP (NASDAQ:EZPW), all trading up on this short holiday week.

Its a great Monday for EZCORP (EZPW) shares reaching a new 52-week high of $17.72.  In the past 30 days EZPW shares are up 18% and more than 64% in the past 6 months.  Last week CL King iniatied a strong buy and a $20 price target on EZPW shares. 

CarMax (KMX) hit $24.71 a share and its shares are up 22% over the past month.  Earlier this month CarMax reported a reported a Q3 profit of $74.6 million, or 33 cents a share, from a year-earlier loss of $21.9 million, or 10 cents. The most-recent quarter included 9 cents of benefits related to related to mark-to-market gains and reduction in the company's finance arm's funding costs.

Revenue jumped 19% to $1.72 billion as same-store sales rose 7%. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters had most recently forecast earnings of 16 cents on $1.66 billion in revenue.

3M Company (MMM) shares hit $83.59 today and over the past 6 months its stock has jumped 40%.  This month 3M said it expects 2009 earnings of $4.30 to $4.35 a share, or $4.50 to $4.55 a share excluding items. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters estimate 3M will earn $4.57 a share in 2009.

3M also said 2010 earnings will be between $4.85 to $5 a share, while analysts anticipate earnings in 2010 of $4.94 a share. 3M said it sees sales of $24.5 billion to $25.5 billion, with organic sales volumes rising 5% to 7% and currency effects adding 2% to 3% to sales for the year. Analysts forecast 2010 revenue of $24.46 billion.
