Europeans Buying Fords for Seven Straight Months

Ford

If Europeans are buying Fords, maybe you should be buying Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F).

Despite the fact that most of the car manufacturers around the globe are suffering from the banking crisis, few companies are making an increase in sales domestically and in the foreign markets. The biggest example for this nowadays is Ford Motor Company. The officials in the Ford Company said that the entire auto industry achieved a decline in sales of 1.5%, while the Ford's sales has made an increase of 5% in total cars sold in the European markets which are 125,200 new cars and trucks, and that’s for the last seven months since the beginning of the year until the end of July 2009.

According to the statistics and internal reports of Ford Motor Company in Europe, the market share of the company has increased in July 2009 by 0.5% than of the same period of last year, and this is considered to be the highest market share the company has achieved in the last decade. The company came in the second place after "Volkswagen" in relation to the increase in the market share and number of vehicles sold in July across Europe.

This increase in the market share can be explained by the strategy of the Ford Company to produce and launch new models specially designed and modified for the European markets. Models like Fiesta, Ka and Focus are now making the major share of the company's sales in Europe, and they have a relatively high demand among the middle class around the old continent. The company is taking advantage of a new financing program provided by the European governments to support their citizens to buy cars. This program is called “Scrappage” and it is similar to the "cash-for-clunkers" program in the USA. This program allows working householders to replace their old cars with new ones at discounted prices.

The increase in the market share of the Ford Company came from a strong establishment of the company's branches across 19 countries. For example, the company is the market leader with a market share equal to 17.8% in Hungary; the same also applies in the U.K. and Ireland. The share also increased in Germany and the company's models are the number one imported car brand in Italy. Models like Fiesta compact and the new Ka subcompact are leading the markets by the volume of sales in many countries like in Germany. This is happening all over Europe as the company continues to achieve higher increased sales percentage than the entire auto industry, and also a higher market share than what the company has achieved previously compared to most of the other auto manufacturers.
