One Reason to Buy Hewlett-Packard Co. Shares: The Slate (NYSE: HPQ)
Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE:HPQ) shares hit a new 52-week high today and there's good reason its stock will stay at that level and continue -- HP's Slate is coming. Say hello to an Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad-like-device that has built-in video camera, USB ports, support for SD cards, music player software, and direct integration with social media and file-sharing sites like Facebook and Flickr. Did we mention it works with Flash.
Hewlett-Packard Co.'s (HPQ) yet-to-be-named slate computer features a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor, an 8.9-inch, multi-touch display, 32 or 64 GB of Flash storage, and 1 GB of DDR RAM, according to Engadget. HP's slate also runs on Windows Home 7 Premium, includes a VGA Webcam, and an Intel UMA graphics chip that supports 1080p, high-definition video playback, the blog reported, citing internal HP documents.
The documents further revealed that HP's slate will be priced between $549 and $599 when it hits the market later this year. HP has not confirmed the documents' authenticity.
