Lexus Recall

Toyota Motor's (NYSE:TM) problems with their Lexus and Prius brands continue to pile up, let's review which models have been recalled and what you should be aware of as a Lexus/Prius owner such as the accelerator and floor mat recalls.

LEXUS RECALL
Lexus has announced a voluntary safety recall of their 2010 HS 250h vehicles. Some owners have reported experiencing inconsistent brake feel during slow and steady application of the brakes on rough or slick road surfaces when the anti-lock brake system (ABS) is activated in an effort to maintain tire traction.

Lexus RecallWhile this issue is rare, should you experience it with your vehicle, press firmly on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle safely.

LEXUS PEDAL RECALL (Accelerator Recall)
To address the risk of floor mat entrapment of accelerator pedals in certain Lexus models, Lexus is conducting a safety recall of those models. A consumer safety advisory was issued on September 29, 2009, with respect to this issue.

Lexus Models involved in the pedal entrapment recall:
2006 – 2010 IS 250
2006 – 2010 IS 350
2007 – 2010 ES 350

TOTAL PRIUS RECALL (PENDING)

 


Its not official Prius owners, Toyota Motor Corp. said today (March 9th) that the Prius recall cited in an online Wall Street Journal report is the same recall that has already been in place for months, according to a company spokesman.

Earlier in the day, the Journal reported Toyota was recalling 2004 through 2009 models of the Prius hybrid to prevent accelerator pedals from becoming trapped. The report follows an incident on Monday when the driver of a 2008 Prius called police when his car would not slow down on a San Diego County highway.

Vehicles involved in the floor mat recall include:

* 2005-2010 Avalon
* 2007-2010 Camry
* 2009-2010 Corolla
* 2008-2010 Highlander
* 2009-2010 Matrix
* 2004-2009 Prius
* 2005-2010 Tacoma
* 2007-2010 Tundra
* 2009-2010 VENZA


2010 PRIUS RECALL
The anti-lock brake system (ABS) in the 2010 model-year Prius, in normal operation, engages and disengages rapidly (many times per second) as the control system senses and reacts to tire slippage. Some owners have reported experiencing inconsistent brake feel during slow and steady application of the brakes on rough or slick road surfaces when the anti-lock brake system (ABS) is activated in an effort to maintain tire traction.
