Berk Going Procter & Gamble
Nearly 100 million shares of The Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG)… That is what Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE:BRK.B) recently filed in a holdings statement with the SEC. It is a large position Mr. Buffett and seems to be keeping steady.
Procter & Gamble possesses qualities that are Buffet-esque, including brand names that are very recognizable to consumers, like Pampers, Crest, Tide, and Bounty the Quicker Picker Upper. These products remain strong for Procter & Gamble and hence give them the edge over competitors. P&G is a long-term staple for holders of steadier portfolios.
Other substantial holdings listed by Berkshire Hathaway include The Coca-Cola Company (NYSE:KO), Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC), and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation (NYSE:BNI). The report shows that Berkshire has an even larger stake in these companies than it does Procter & Gamble.
