Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts, and McDonalds: Dunkin' Wins

Too bad you can't buy shares in Dunkin' Brands, Inc. as they are a private company. Dunkin', which opened 171 new stores in 2009, now has 6,566 U.S. stores. Starbucks (NASDAQ:SBUX), which has recently closed several hundred stores, has 6,871. Dunkin's "deliberate targeting of the no frills, cost-conscious coffee drinker who doesn’t want to buy a CD on his way to work has been enormously effective. "

McDonald's shares look Dollar-Menu Cheap (MCD)

McDonald's (NYSE:MCD) might secretly wish that the recession would never end. The Dow component posted some more impressive quarterly results Thursday, which easily beat Wall Street's forecasts. Perhaps most impressive, global same-store sales, a key figure measuring sales at restaurants open more than a year, jumped more than five percent.

Moby Waller Believes McDonald's Could Breakout

The fast-food restaurant behemoth McDonald's (NYSE:MCD) reported same-store year-over-year sales growth of 2.2% yesterday. This news caused the shares to move lower as it didn't match up well to last year's numbers. MCD has not really participated in the market rally since March ... on the other hand, it didn't get crushed in the market selloff from September 2008 to March 2009.
