Marvel Sues Family of Comics Artist

Marvel Entertainment (NYSE:MVL) sued the heirs of the comic book artist Jack Kirby on Friday to end the family’s recent efforts to regain long-term rights to some of Marvel’s most popular characters.

The Dow has gained 150+ points today for a new 2009 high and along for the ride are new 52-week highs for shares of Discovery Communications (NASDAQ:DISCA), Altria Group (NYSE:MO), and Marvel Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:MVL).

Marvel up 26% on Disney Buyout

Spider-Man, the Hulk and all the superheros of Marvel Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:MVL) will now be joining Mickey and the gang at The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS). The deal will cost $4 billion and Marvel shares are up 26% to $48.69 which now puts the Marvel's current market cap at $3.82 billion.
